I am often privileged to care for entire families: moms, dads, sons, daughters, grandmas and grandpas. Forming these relationships is what I enjoy most about my job. The opportunity to offer help and support to my patients and their families during their times of need, as well as celebrating with them in times of good health and recovery, is the most rewarding part of my job. I love seeing children and it’s always exciting. With kids you never know what to expect or what they are going to say. It’s also rewarding watching them grow and change. Now that I am a dad, I definitely have more empathy for new parents.” Tabitha Taylor, APRN Owensboro Health Muhlenberg Healthplex “I love practicing medicine in Muhlenberg County. I grew up here and enjoy seeing people that I grew up with and their children. I have two daughters— Harper is 5 and Tatum is 3. I chose family medicine because I like treating kids and the older population too. It is never the same thing—each day brings something different. Kids really are hilarious! I love being able to watch them change and grow from newborn on up. I love the opportunity to continue to see them through the years and care for them into adulthood.” Kristy Fleming, APRN, sees patients at both locations “I enjoy working in both Central City and at the Healthplex in Powderly and feeling like I am helping people in my community. Family medicine can be challenging, but is also very rewarding. I appreciate when I am able to see multiple members of a family and helping them all achieve their health goals, as individuals and as a family unit. I love children—as evidenced by the six kids that I have. Many of my pediatric patients are friends or schoolmates of one of my kids.” Lisa Newman, APRN Owensboro Health Muhlenberg Community Hospital Family Medicine “We have great people here in Muhlenberg and surrounding counties. I always knew I wanted to help others, and what better place than here at home? Taking care of the person and the family is what it is all about. I see patients from birth on. My youngest patient was two days old and the eldest was 102 years old. I enjoy not only taking care of the daily problems that arise, but also helping my patients remain healthy as a whole—in body and mind. I love the children! It is so important starting at birth to be proactive with the healthcare needs of children. I am so lucky to get to watch them grow and take care of them into their adult years. What an honor!” 2 • Momentum
