Owensboro Health | Lift | September 2018

Stories worth celebrating e’re excited to share this latest edition of LIFT magazine, which comes to you with stories and items we think you’ll enjoy! The mission of Owensboro Health is to heal the sick and to improve the health of the communities we serve, and in these pages, you’ll find examples of our commitment to both. You’ll learn about a patient with prostate cancer who researched and spoke to experts across the country. What he learned led him to Owensboro Health’s Mitchell Memorial Cancer Center, where he was treated using the brand-new TrueBeam ® radiation therapy machine and had fantastic results. You can also read about a patient from California who was treated at Owensboro Health Regional Hospital in 2006. The care he received here helped him until he could receive a heart transplant in 2014. This past May, he returned to Owensboro to thank his caregivers, including the nurse and her parents who gave his family a place to stay while he was hospitalized. We’re also spreading the word about our efforts to improve the overall health of our communities. You’ll see that in a story about Ghost Out, which Owensboro Health participates in each year, educating high school students about the consequences of impaired driving. You’ll also meet two members of the Healthpark who have about 6,000 visits between them. Their dedication to wellness is something to aspire to as we look for ways to elevate our own health. My hope is that these uplifting stories can elevate not just your spirits, but also your overall health and awareness. We invite you to read these stories and also to learn more by visiting us online at OwensboroHealth.org/Lift f or additional videos and content.
