Care you can count on. Dr. Muradov specializes in general surgery — and he’s accepting new patients. If surgery is in your future, talk to your doctor about a referral. Momentum A MUHLENBERG COUNTY SPECIAL SECTION 4 • Momentum Many physicians that make their home in Muhlenberg County have roots here, but Dr. Joe Muradov is just planting seeds. He’s new to the area but plans to stick around for the long haul. Dr. Muradov’s wife, Margarita, two sons and a daughter recently joined him in Greenville after finishing up their school year in Louisville. His son, Laziz, is attending the University of Kentucky and his two younger children, Yasmina and Samir, are now attending school in Muhlenberg County. Dr. Muradov grew up in a small town in Uzbekistan where he met his wife. Being from a small town, he was attracted to rural Muhlenberg County and Owensboro Health Muhlenberg Community Hospital (OHMCH). In January of 2017, Dr. Muradov was completing his surgery rotation at Owensboro Health Regional Hospital as a University of Louisville general surgery resident. During that time, local surgeon Dr. Browning made his decision to retire from OHMCH the summer of 2018, which was when Dr. Muradov was set to graduate. “I think I was very fortunate to be in the right place at the right time,” said Dr. Muradov. Their family is busy settling in and adjusting to their new home in Greenville, and the transition is going well. “We enjoy so many things in Muhlenberg County,” Dr. Muradov said. “Kind people, very welcoming neighbors, fishing at Luzerne Lake, no traffic, only a four-minute commute to work, the park at West Campus to walk and play tennis. We really like it here.” Dr. Muradov was recently board-certified in general surgery by the American Board of Surgery. His days at OHMCH are long, but he wouldn’t have it any other way. One of Dr. Muradov’s favorite quotes comes from Leo Aikman, a famous writer: “Blessed is the person who is too busy to worry in the daytime and too sleepy to worry at night.” This is a perfect description of the life of a surgeon. Dr. Muradov enjoys getting to know his patients at OHMCH. It’s one of the big advantages to working in a rural hospital and it makes him feel like a part of the community. He plans to stay with the hospital as long as he can to continue growing and serving the needs of our community. “Treatment is a joint effort between physicians and their patients,” said Dr. Muradov. “And I enjoy working with my patients to help give them relief from their pain and suffering.” If you see Dr. Muradov out in the community, say hello! He’s the new kid on the block, so be sure to give him a big welcome. Dr. Joe Muradov: New doc on the block We’re here for you!
