Here are several support groups offered in our community: Education and information for those affected by Alzheimer’s disease or dementia. Meets once a month at the Healthpark. Dates and topics vary. For more information and support, go to alz.org Bereavement Support Group Offers support to people who have experienced the death of a loved one. Meets every Monday from 2 to 3:30 p.m. at the Healthpark West Concourse Conference Room. Contact Betty Medley at 270-683-1505 for more information. or call the 24/7 Helpline at 800-272-3900 . Offers support to people with chronic lung disease. Meetings are held the first Wednesday of each month from noon to 1 p.m. in the Healthpark West Concourse. Contact the OH Heart and Lung Rehab at 270-688-5155 for more information. Breastfeeding Friends A free moms group to support the breastfeeding journey. Chemotherapy – Patient Education New chemotherapy patients are invited to a 60-minute information session. Meets every Tuesday from 2 to 3 p.m. at 1000 Breckenridge St., Suite 200, Owensboro, KY 42303. Call 270-688-3445 to reserve your spot. Diabetes Support Group Learn more about managing your diabetes and meet others living with diabetes. Meets at the Healthpark in Classroom B. Eye Sight – Western Kentucky National Federation of the Blind This is a support and vision advocacy group that meets on the second Saturday of every month from 2 to 4 p.m. at the Healthpark in Classroom B. Contact Scott Heads at 270-925-0183 for more information. Huntington’s Disease Support Group Provides information and support to patients and families regarding Huntington’s disease. This group meets every other month on Sundays in Classroom A at the Healthpark. Please RSVP with Cathy Saliga, HDSA Social Worker, at 502-637-4372 . LifeSpring – Cancer Survivor Support Group Free support program designed to help cancer patients in their fight against this disease. Meets every Monday at 5:30 p.m. at the Healthpark. Multiple Sclerosis Support Group This group offers information, support and activities for people affected by MS and their families. Meetings are held the second Monday of the month from 6 to 8 p.m. at the Healthpark West Concourse Conference Room. Contact Susan Reynolds at 270-275-4966 for more information. Parkinson’s Support Group Offers support to those affected by Parkinson’s disease. Meeting the first Tuesday of every month at 5:30 p.m., this group is free and open to the public. The location of the meeting is the Owensboro Church of Christ, 3300 Highway 144, Owensboro, KY 42303. Refreshments are served. Stroke Support Group This group is for survivors of stroke and meets the first Monday of each month at 6 p.m. in the Healthpark, Classroom B.
